Our monthly submissions of Tips and Tastes began as an idea to redefine, in
plain terms, the complexities of the business interruption process. After
conducting research into instructional material available for Business
Interruption, both in published form and on the Internet, we discovered that
most of the information was dry and leaned heavily on accounting and technical
presentation.
What started out as simple, entertaining tips has blossomed into a comprehensive
collection of articles that are being expanded even further. The recipes were a
great bonus! Our initial concerns were early assignment, early contact and early
intervention regarding the Business Income coverage. Then, we decided to share
our thoughts about the importance of communicating with and educating the
insured about the business interruption process. This became a series: Educating
the Insured. We have found our educational tools and material to be very helpful
in translating the complexities into a more palatable form for both the insured
and their authorized representatives.
Future articles have already been planned and will focus on dissecting the
business interruption adjusting process, which we feel is also a fresh approach
to the complex blending of accounting and adjusting. The new four part series
will explore and redefine the relationship between the pure adjusting, the pure
accounting and the unique blend of the two to achieve the final adjustment of
the claim.
Our company believes that the accounting and the adjusting are inseparable and
must be accomplished in tandem, and in harmony, to produce the most successful
adjustment for Business Income coverage and to control Extra Expense.
